    Create a proxy user

    Create a proxy user in the dashboard. Each proxy user belongs to one product and draws from that product's balance, so create one for each product you use. You can disable or replace it at any time.

    Point a client at the gateway

    One host and one port for everything we sell. Any HTTP client speaks it unchanged, and there is no SDK to install.

Start with residential. Use mobile for destinations that decline residential addresses. Premium residential is for work that needs a specific state or city, a session longer than 55 minutes or a plain http:// destination.

You append short keys to your proxy username: cc for the country, sid for a sticky session id and ttl for that session lifetime in minutes. The gateway reads the username on every request, so there is nothing else to configure. On premium residential you can also add st for a state and ct for a city; a city always needs its state.

Every byte that passes through the gateway in either direction, including request headers and TLS handshake overhead. Usage is aggregated hourly in your dashboard, and that is the number drawn from your balance.

Requests stop with 403 AVO_QUOTA, and your proxy users work again within a couple of seconds of a top-up. There is no overage billing.

You set the minutes per request, up to 55 minutes on residential and mobile, 115 minutes on premium residential. A session with no lifetime set holds for up to 45 minutes. The number you set is an upper bound: the address is held for up to that long and then rotates, so build the workflow to survive a fresh address. Ask for more than a product allows and the gateway refuses the request instead of shortening it.

HTTP, HTTPS via CONNECT, SOCKS5, on a standard forward proxy. Destination ports 80, 443, 8080 and 8443 are allowed; anything else returns 403 AVO_PORT_NOT_ALLOWED. On residential and mobile, use https:// destinations: a plain http:// request is answered with a redirect to the same address on https://, and a tunnel to port 80 is refused. Premium residential also carries plain http:// destinations.

We count bytes per proxy user per hour, together with the country you asked for. For the live view in your dashboard we also keep, per destination host and UTC minute, the bytes, the request count and two timing counters, and delete them after 30 days. We never record a path, query string, header or response body.
